I've also been stepping up work on my cave art pieces. Three of these were wheel thrown; the rest were pinched on the porch at Pawleys. The clay is Zella (which I haven't tried with the parietal motif) and they feature a combination of porcelain slip, yellow ochre slip and various underglazes.

Eventually these pieces will go to the gas kiln, but not until we've done some test tiles on the glazes we made on Sunday.
Next post will be apres Barrel Firing #4. I picked up about 300 lbs of sawdust today and gathered logs we saved when part of our apple tree died this past summer. Now I'm off to scavenge coffee grounds, banana peels, cat food and glossy magazine pages to feed the flames.

I saw those cave art pieces today....very nice my friend. Exciting that the glazes we made will soon be a part of their surface.
Hi... I'll bring some coffee grounds too- some pre and some post coffee brewing. And, I'll see what other weird things I can find to bring too. Beautiful pieces.. I think I'll only have a couple for the barrel- I haven't been at the studio nearly as much as I've wanted to in the past couple weeks.
Lady E - and I can't wait to see the magic you'll create with those glazes on YOUR pieces. I sense magic. :)
Hiya Amy! More java is always welcome!!! And I hope you know that whatever you bring to the barrel is good. I'm just glad you want to "play" with us.
Hey Becky,
I was admiring your birds on your self the other night while I was at class. They look wonderful! If you ever sell that pig...I want it! Jen
Jen, thank you so much! If you'd like the pig, it's yours. With many thanks for nudging me in new directions.
Hi Becky. Thanks for commenting on my blog. My partner and I were admiring the birds from your earlier post. He was wondering if you ever sell them. Let us know...and good luck with the next barrel firing!!
Jerry, thanks for stopping by. And thank you for your interest in my birds. I have just begun to sell them.
