Good Friday

We had an unexpected day off today. Always a gift! We weren't exactly sure what to do with it so we pretty much decided to let the day take us where it would. It took me to one of my favourite nurseries. It's still a bit early to be planting, and the rows of wooden tables -- normally groaning under the weight of every kind of plant imaginable -- were pretty much empty. Still, I was able to find exactly what I was looking for.

There's not a lot of time left for pansies and violets. These plants are, in fact, a little long in the tooth and leggier than I like. But they were all that were left. And sprucing the place up a bit before Easter seemed like a nice way to spend this day off. They'll hang around for a few weeks and I'll enjoy them while they're here. By then, the tabletops at the nursery will be a carpet of colour and I'll take trowel in hand again.

It was a glorious day to be outdoors. From the trees down by the pond, I could hear a pair of owls. Courting perhaps? Geese and ducks were enjoying the water. It occurred to me that we need to get new bluebird houses. Soon. The azaleas are just beginning to bloom and chartreuse buds pepper branches that up until a couple of weeks ago were bare. I planted some seeds I ordered over the winter. Chives, Salad mix and Arugula (for Rocket Salad) Doesn't look like much now, but stay tuned. Hopefully, in a few weeks I'll have "salad bowls" in the backyard.

It felt good to be out in the sunlight for several hours. Guess I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Look closely.

I love these little creatures. Seeing one is always a joy. But today, I was treated to two!

Soon the sun will be setting and I'll take time from making dinner to go outside and enjoy the show. Later, I'll pinch a pot or make a few new stamps -- my daily clay. It's good to squeeze every minute you can from a day like today.

Great looking flowers. I`m waiting to see whick cactus bloom this spring. I got hissed at by a big fat green lizard the other day. Niether of us was paying attention and he was left with limited escape. Your lizards look almost like pets. Enjoy your spring wonders.

LLS, I suspect your AZ lizards have serious attitude.
Life is easier on a lizard who doesn't have to navigate cactus spines? They get lazy at Storybrook.
