Bye-bye Daylight Savings Time

Well, I really don't like the "Fall Back" thing. The thought of darkness falling before my workday ends really sets me on edge. But if I have to bid adieu to that extra hour of daylight, there's no better way than to do so with my sister, otherwise known as "She Who Knows About Savings" (daylight, or otherwise).

Cinder & Wayne arrived at Storybrook around 8pm on Friday. We had quite the itinerary planned for the weekend. Saturday, we had to stop by the Farmers Market to pick up our CSA haul for the week. It was a grand one - many greens, sweet potatoes, peppers, eggplant, squash and okra. I gave the okra to Cinder (don't like it) and made a sweet 'tater mash for everyone Saturday night as well as a salad that featured the arugula. All organic. All good.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. After our trip to the Farmers Market, we stopped by ClayWorks. I needed to trim 2 yunomi and take account of what I needed to glaze before the next reduction firing. EEK! A lot!

Then it was off to the Metrolina Expo. The Flea Market here is great on the first weekend of any month, but in November and April it's a HUGE event. Cinder, Wayne & I walked our tails off. We spent hours looking at this knick-knack, that bric-a-brac, letting our senses run rough-trodden over everything we saw and smelled and touched. It was Heaven! (And I ate non-organic fries, fish & chicken!!! ) After four hours, we were spent. But we did have prizes - some wood carvings I hope to use in my pottery and several glass balls (used by fishermen to secure their nets) that we'll use in our yards as garden art. I also found two metal stars I hope to use as door decorations for Christmas.

Sunday our shopping continued. It was our Annie Hall Day! We all found several bargains. It's a great day when you can buy 6 turtlenecks and a pair of Liz pants for less than what it would cost to buy one sweater anywhere else!!! $28.00 total for my entire fall/winter wardrobe? Doesn't get much better than that!

Trader Joes was our last stop of the day. Talk about saving the best for last! I'd yet to visit the store. And Cinder was as excited as I was to check it out! Wow! The organic selection was fantastic! And it cost so much less than what we normally pay. Granted, much of it wasn't local. But most of what we buy in our local grocery chain isn't either. And the prices at Trader Joes are far better! (Only our CSA through New Moon Farms delivers us the best LOCAL organic produce.)

It was a fantastic weekend! Sis and Wayne barely had enough room in her trunk to take all of the haul home.

That dog with the x-ray eyes is Mega Canine Motte. He's a good one.

And it was a very good weekend. Tomorrow is Monday Monday. A new beginning!
