I'd never been sailing before but Captain Mike made me feel quite at home.

There wasn't much wind, so all the images I'd had in mind of slicing through the brink on a vessel practically on its side (is that keeling or heeling?) didn't play out. But it was very relaxing. And the good crew made it even more enjoyable. I don't know if you can have two first mates, but we did. First Mate, Emerson...an expert in tacking and hairstyling...

...and First Mate, Adelena. If there's a mystery to be solved, she's your sleuth. Although the blue nail polish might blow her cover.

Sis and I were the tag-along crew. Cinder has been sailing before; I hadn't. I learned a lot about terminology. The jibs, the traveler, the halyard (is that the correct spelling?), the sheets, the shades, the shrouds (sounds like a graveyard scenario) the helm, port, starboard and on & on. I hope I don't forget it the next time I sail the deep blue sea aka Lake Murray.

It was an elemental kind of weekend. Water was certainly the element of choice on Friday. Wind wasn't much of a factor on the lake but it sure played a part in the heavy thunderstorms that pummeled Columbia Saturday night. Earth gave up some treasures on Saturday morning when Cinder & I went in search of cow pies for our next barrel firing. My wonderful sis had already scoped out all possible pastures for pattie pickin'. Our hunting & gathering resulted in two big garbage bags filled with barrel firing gold. Before I left SC, Sis gifted me with a small trash can she used to use to hold birdseed -- the perfect sawdust firing container.

It was a fabulous weekend! And now I'm refreshed and ready to get back to work.

Glad you got to go sailing. I have only been sailing twice and loved it each time. Unfortunately I never learned any of the terminology. Welcome back.
TY. Good to be home. Am having trouble leaving comments on your site? Maybe I haven't gotten my sea legs back? ;) If I fail yet again, plz know I love the barnacle pot.

Okay, looks like a fun weekend and to boot you got cow pies.
Potter, chef and singer too? Ron, you are a true Renaissance Man!
Yes, any weekend I can gather cow pies is a good weekend I always say.
That's why we call her...
The Cow Pie Kid.
I think what Ron was doing is technically referred to as "typing". :^)
