Once a Weeker

Guess that's me these days, as far as new posts go. As I type, Jacob (my 14-yr old nephew) is having his way with some porcelain I had on hand. He's really into it! As a clay addict I make no apologies for turning someone else onto my obsession.

Speaking of obsessions, I spent the entire weekend at Clayworks. The Barrel Firing Gals issued a challenge to one another - Make something BIG!. I can't throw big...so I decided to try my hand at handbuilding. I'm into animals. And our pit bull, Spanky, is a constant source of amusement and love here at Storybrook. So I decided to make a BIG SPANKY to meet our challenge. I've never used slab work and coiling to make an animal before. And this offering has more to go before it's done. But this fella is about 14" high.

More to come on this piece next weekend. Or maybe not, since I'm off to visit my sister in SC. So make that Once A Weeker And a Couple of Days.

Hope you've all had a weekend as fine as mine.

Amy, thanks! Of course I see all the flaws in it but hopefully I'll get better on the next one. GREAT to know you can keep in touch from Costa Rica! I know you'll have a splendid time!

Thanks Doug. He's my first stab at this sort of thing and I have certainly learned what to do for my second.
It's maddening to know what you want to achieve & can't. But I have to admit to myself that I'm really "young" at this...and accept that with time & practice I may get better. Your support is a huge, huge help. Thank you!
