First, we prep the pieces. (Pictured here - Elaine, Minke and John)

Then we prep the the barrel. (That's Cindy selecting the copper carb)

Next, pyro people, John & Elaine give the contents a good dose.

Got fire?

Once the firing gets underway, we've got some time on our hands. We eat, drink and make merry...creating things.
Minke begins a new sculpture.

John begins making a light box for photographing future pieces.

Elaine pinches a pot and pets Motte, my sister's dog.

Several hours later, the oil drum fondly known as "Model T" was ready for The Reveal.

Some fantastic pieces came out of Barrel Firing #3. And there were others I call "lesson pots." In other words..."Well, I won't try THAT again" techniques.By the time the pieces were cleaned and the paraphenalia put away, it was getting late. I was tired and hungry. So no pictures for this post. But I'm sure many will be posted soon because---

The bloggers were there!
Peter Rose on Saturday and Barrel Firing on Sunday! What a great weekend!

Ah, Jen, wish we could. Elaine is in Las Vegas and I'm out of town on Saturday. I know it will be a marvelous outing & hope to go along on the next!!!
Becky, I love the fact that I get to see all of you on each other's blogs, it seems you have a really great little community of friends there - good to see. I've kept back my favourite mug for you Becky, I've just got to get it together! Shouldn't have gone to Cookie's this afternoon!
Doug, I'm sure an afternoon spent with Cookie is well worth the time spent. I'll email you about the mug and am happy to know you set a fave aside.
We do have quite a family at Clayworks. I was very lucky to become a part of it. Ron is dad, of course. ;)
(But don't tell him. )
from the pieces I've seen at the studio, barrel firing #3 was amazing! i'm looking forward to using both seaweed from WA State and seaweed from Maine at the next barrel firing. Oh, and especially in these rainy days it's hard to stay away from the studio. oh well....
