These pieces - and the bigger ones we packed below - will join in the festivities at Barrel Fire #3 next Sunday. Elaine was snapping pix for her blog as we loaded so I took off my readers. ( I hate being photographed in the readers because I hate the necessity of wearing them. ) Soooo, I set them on the edge of the kiln wall. Of course, they fell into the kiln, all the way to the bottom. This meant unpacking the top shelf to retrieve the rascals. Lesson in vanity? Elaine snapped a pic of them. I didn't. I couldn't see well enough to take a picture.
After the readers were retrieved and the kiln was candling, I worked on Spanky #1. Lately, Loafers Glory has been prone to cracking but, so far, none have appeared.

The last step before the bisque kiln was to apply a rutile wash overall. I haven't done this before and am anxious to see the results. We load the gas kiln again on 8/26. I'm hoping Spanky #1 will be bisqued by then.

The rest of my day was spent glazing pieces I've been neglecting. One I spent a good bit of time on was the pinch pot bird I made some weeks back. This is how it looked today.
Another great Saturday at Clayworks! And, as a non-pottery related aside, Fred & I ended the evening by watching a wonderful movie..."The Bank Job." I highly recommend it.

Spanky's lookin' great. I hope he exceeds your expectations. Do you mean to tell me that you haven't named that little phoenix bird? I can't believe it. Mr. No-Name is looking great, though.
It was nice seeing everyone today and the conversation was really nice.
I have made peace with my readers and you can too.
