Saturdays are habit-forming...

...when you spend them at Clayworks. It was my second Saturday in a row at the studio. And I realized just how much I treasure the time I spend there. So many creative possibilities...and so many good friends.

There was plenty of pinching going on...

And glazing galore...

Throwing was on my dance card. I need to get some practice in before class starts in 2 weeks. And today I played around with some new forms. This bowl is about as off-center as it gets. But rather than strive for perfection, I used the bowl to practice a rim technique I saw on YouTube. It's still out of kilter but I wound up liking it. The soup I'll serve in it won't know the difference...and will taste just as good. So. It's a keeper.

One of these days I may be able to throw bigger forms. Today wasn't the day. So the small bowl I threw ended up with a new treatment (for me.) It was a day to experiment, so that's what I did.

The vase IS a new form for me (thanks to Susan for suggesting I try throwing tall & thin, and then suggesting I alter what I'd done.) Although I liked the smooth surface, there's something inside me that just can't leave well enough alone. So I made my first "sprig" from a stamp I made a while back and stuck 'er on. It's a pecan half but it doesn't really look like a pecan half. Should (I hope) add some interest when it's glazed.

All in all, it was a GREAT day! I didn't throw as much as I'd planned to, but I was relatively satisfied with the things I did throw. I tried to push my envelope a bit & explore. And I certainly enjoyed the time spent with my creative friends.

Next Saturday can't come soon enough!
