Sooz made two really nice ones using Earthen Red clay. The slab I had was Loafers Glory and I rolled it out a bit too thick I think for this project. Still, I enjoyed the process. I always enjoy the marriage of fingertips and clay.
The box I made -- should it survive the bisque & glaze firings -- will be a nice addition to "The Arsenal', pots that are heavy enough to serve as weapons in case of a home invasion.
Later that night, I tried to fashion another box, from a slab of Earthen Red that Sooz gave me. This one worked out much better. The lid was challenging but I refused to give up. Not sure how I'll feel about it when all is said & done. But it was an improvement on the first box, an excuse to use some of my stamps, and another chance to learn from the glazing process.

I'm also not sure how much more handbuilding I'll be doing in the near future. The Intermediate Throwing class begins Tuesday and I'll be devoting most of my time to the wheel. Still, handbuilding is fun when I need a break. And I like
"box-ing".
