Our neighbors, who moved here from Russia, like to swim in the pond. I don't think they went for a dip today.

I filled the bird feeder last night in anticipation of a big winter storm. The storm wasn't big but the birds' appetites were. I had to fill the feeder again this morning.

It won't be long before green leaves and purple blooms adorn our fence. Clematis dress for the best in the Spring....

But Holly, I think, looks its finest in the winter. Especially when it snows.

Since we rarely see much snow in Charlotte, we don't have many of the things our Northern neighbors do...snow shoes, chains, not even a scraper. But Fred found that a CD jewel case does a decent job clearing snow from windows and windshields.

Our tiny taste of a Winter Wonderland will melt away tomorrow. It was nice while it lasted. But who knows? Winter is still young. With a little luck, more snow may find its way to Storybrook. (We'll keep the CD case close by...just in case).

I rarely have to go anywhere early enough anymore to require scraping ice. I do remember using a cassette case though.
Credit cards work well, too.
Ron & Cinder --- thank you! I guess plastic DOES have a purpose doesn't it?
Great pictures! We have to document the show quickly here since it is so fleeting.
I have a friend in Atlanta that used a metal spatula one time.
I haven't lived up north for almost 30 years, but I have a small ice scraper, a large one with a snow brush and my sister-in-law bought us a snow shovel about four years ago (That's why it stopped snowing here!).
Oops! "show" should be "snow"...
Looks like you and Fred got much more snow than I did. Missed you at the studio last night too... Susan M. and others were there. Good time...
What beautiful photos, I wish we'd get a light dusting here, we did get some more rain thankfully. I just love holly.
Oh, when I used to live in the mountains, and we expected snow, I would put a towel on the windshield and hold it down with the windshield wipers. Then just remove it in the morning - it worked great. Beats scraping all that ice or snow off the windshield.
Linda, what a GREAT idea! Thank you!
